HAWAII CONSERVATIVES FLOCK TO HAWAII REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY'S
RONALD REAGAN FREEDOM & LIBERTY DINNER FUNDRAISER
FEATURING KEYNOTE SPEAKER CAROL TOBIAS,
PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE COMMITTEE (NRLC)
Aiea, Hawaii -- Tonight, a sellout crowd of more than one hundred conservatives from across Hawaii converged on the Pearl Country Club for the second annual Ronald Reagan Freedom & Liberty Dinner in honor of President Reagan's 104th birthday today. The fundraising event was organized for the benefit of the Hawaii Republican Assembly's political superpac HIRA Action.
Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) flew to Hawaii specifically to provide the evening's inspiring keynote address for HIRA's fundraiser; the first time a sitting NRLC president has visited Hawaii. "Our humanity is not defined by the atrocities that have been committed throughout history, but by the shining light of those who recognize injustice and refuse to be complicit through silence," proclaimed longtime pro-life activist Tobias to dozens of Hawaii's most engaged conservative activists. "There is so much passion and dedication here. These people really want to make a difference and it is so very encouraging. They offer a lot of hope for Hawaii," added Tobias.
Attending the Hawaii Republican Assembly's 'Reagan Dinner' fundraiser were dozens of HIRA members as well as local VIPs in the conservative movement, including 2014 Republican U.S. Senate candidate Cam Cavasso and Deacon Kin Borja, president of Aloha Life Advocates (formerly called Hawaii Right to Life), and former state GOP chairman Willes Lee who now serves as the national director for HIRA.
Tito Montes, president of the Hawaii Republican Assembly (HIRA) which organized tonight's event, remarked: "HIRA is determined to plant the seeds for a political movement in Hawaii which gives residents a vibrant and rewarding alternative to six decades of increasingly harmful policies from the islands' ruling Democrats. We are even more determined to work toward the day when Hawaii's official Republican Party finally stands up for life. As conservatives, we refuse to be silent while so many problems plague our counties, our state and our nation. The devaluing of life is a cancer in our society."
Ronald Reagan, the namesake of HIRA's annual event and America's 40th president, formally proclaimed the 'personhood' of the unborn on 14 January 1988: "The well-being and the future of our country, demand that protection of the innocents must be guaranteed and that the personhood of the unborn be declared and defended throughout our land."
Tobias' organization, the National Right to Life Committee, was founded in 1968. The NRLC is a federation of 50 state right-to-life affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters and is the nation's oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the
pro-life movement, NRLC works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
