150 HAWAII CONSERVATIVES ATTEND HAWAII REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY'S
INAUGURAL RONALD REAGAN FREEDOM & LIBERTY DINNER FUNDRAISER
FEATURING FORMER REAGAN OFFICIAL AL CARDENAS, CHAIRMAN OF THE
AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE UNION (ACU) AND CPAC
Last night, a sellout crowd of one hundred fifty conservatives from across Hawaii converged on the Pearl Country Club for the inaugural Ronald Reagan Freedom & Liberty Dinner in honor of President Reagan's 103rd birthday. The fundraising event was organized for the benefit of the Hawaii Republican Assembly's political superpac HIRA Action.
Former Reagan administration official Al Cardenas flew to Honolulu to provide the evening's energizing keynote address. Cardenas, who now serves as chairman of the American Conservative Union (ACU), leads the largest conservative political organization in the country which hosts the annual CPAC conference. He told attendees: "When things have been so bad for so long in the islands, people are willing to consider a vision and an ideology which is new to them. This is the time for conservatives to make their case and be heard."
Of special interest to HIRA was Cardenas' decade of service as leader of the Florida GOP which saw the sunshine state's minority party gain majorities in the state legislature and congressional delegation for the first time since Reconstruction. After sixty long, painful years of destructive Democrat leadership in Hawaii, this kind of political turnaround engineered by Cardenas is exactly the kind of speedy and lasting results which Hawaii Republicans (and all the people of Hawaii) need and deserve.
The proceeds from the Reagan Dinner will be strategically utilized for ramping up HIRA's political communications in 2014 and beyond so that Hawaii conservatives have a voice in legislation, policymaking and elections.
Mahalo to everyone who was able to attend and support HIRA's Ronald Reagan Freedom and Liberty Dinner. Stay tuned for more HIRA events to be announced in the near future.
(Mahalo to David Livingston for memorializing this
special evening with his wonderful photographs)
