KAUAI CONSERVATIVES HELD A 'TALK STORY' SESSION WITH CAROL TOBIAS,
PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE COMMITTEE (NRLC)
Lihue, Kauai -- Saturday afternoon, a key national political leader met with conservative activists at Kauai's Aloha Church. Carol Tobias, president of the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), led a first-of-its-kind 'talk story' event yesterday where attendees came away energized about spreading the message of respect for life.
Organized by the Hawaii Republican Assembly (HIRA), Tobias engaged with twenty leaders of the pro-life movement, including representatives and members of the Christian Coalition, Aloha Life Advocates, and the Hawaii Republican Assembly, notably Liliian Lucas. This was the first time a sitting NRLC President has visited Kauai.
"There is no more important issue than life, and we're winning," Tobias remarked. "The group we met in Kauai is enthusiastic and dedicated. I am extremely pleased to with their determination to make a difference for unborn children and their mothers."
HIRA's national director Willes Lee, who introduced Tobias at the event, reminded attendees of the local political implications of abortion policy in Hawaii: "Every day we need to remind officials, especially our own, that you're either for life, or you're against it. As long as our morals are foisted on us by judges or politicians, we and our church, need to be politically involved."
Advance word of pro-life leader Tobias' trip to to advance the pro-life cause on Kauai was warmly received by Garden Island conservatives, but also led to threats of protests by a variety of liberal activists here; protests which never materialized.
Tobias' organization, the National Right to Life Committee, was founded in 1968. The NRLC is a federation of 50 state right-to-life affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters and is the nation's oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the
pro-life movement, NRLC works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
